How To Make This Bumper Longer?

I’m not too proud to admit that I lost sleep over this project. I tend to carry stress poorly. I find satisfaction in my work, but I also can get a bit too wrapped up in it. I knew I had a great “BLOCKS” Build, but I needed something to make it longer.

The first build was tough. I don’t know if I was just working incredibly hard, had too much coffee, or had some weird blood sugar thing going on, but I was sweating like crazy. My back ached badly. The first build really took it out of me.

My mind kept coming back to the thought of doing a simpler stop motion build spelling out the four components of our groups in different clips.

Just Do Another Stop Motion Already…

After going back and forth on what to do, I just decided to take the plunge. I setup everything like I had before but on the stage of our worship center. It has black carpet and more space to move around. I also used the EFs 24/2.8 STM Pancake lens. The last change I made was using thick gaffers tape to really lock down the base.

I also used the same base and much simpler words. I followed the exact same process… Snap a picture, pull a lego, repeat.

This is what I came up with. I like it, but I don’t LOVE it.

Changes, Corrections, etc.

I’ll probably be editing this post later after I make a few corrections. I feel like its better than good…but its not yet great. Here are a few things I need to reconsider:

  • I don’t like the light leaks as transitions. They are out of nowhere and don’t fit the feel of the video
  • The first four words are kind of boring compared to the big build at the end
  • The soundtrack is sort of “meh” but we used it for the promo video, so it makes sense to use it here as well
